In short

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party services. Everything runs on our own server quiz.piogino.ch at Infomaniak in Switzerland. Players only give a name for the quiz they join; quiz hosts have an account.

The Quiz App is a private, non-commercial hobby project.

Visiting the site

When you open the site, the server receives your IP address, the time, the page requested and browser details. These are written to a server log for operation and security and deleted after 14 days. They are not analysed or passed on.

Joining a quiz

To play, you enter the quiz code and a player name. We store the name, your answers, whether they were right, your score and when you joined, so the host can run the quiz and show the results. Use any name you like, it doesn't have to be your real one. This data is kept with the quiz; the host can remove players, and you can ask us to delete it.

Host accounts

To create quizzes you register with a username, an email address and a password. The password is stored only as a secure hash. We use the email address only for your account and never send newsletters or pass it on. Your quizzes, their questions and their results are kept until you ask us to delete your account.

Cookies and browser storage

The site uses one cookie, connect.sid, and only for hosts: it keeps you signed in for up to 24 hours and is needed for that. Players don't get it.

The app also keeps some values in your browser's local storage, so a page reload doesn't lose your input:

These values stay on your device. You can delete them at any time by clearing the site data in your browser's settings, or use a private window.

Data abroad

None. The server and all data are in Switzerland.

Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) you can ask what personal data about you is processed, and have it corrected or deleted, including your account or your answers in a quiz. Write to info@piogino.ch. You can also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Changes

This statement is updated when the app changes; the date at the top shows the current version.
